Catherine and JonMarco’s downtown Chicago wedding in the fall was such a memorable one! Chicago is one of my favorite cities so it doesn’t get much better than traveling there to celebrate love. Additionally, Catherine and I went to the same high school and grew up playing soccer together, so this felt like an extra special wedding to document in more ways than one.
The Historic Warwick Allerton
Catherine and JonMarco’s Chicago wedding was held at the Warwick Allerton Hotel, a sophisticated venue in the heart of the city that was originally built in the 1920s. Known for it’s Jazz Age style and elegance, the Warwick Allerton is a pretty iconic spot to tie the knot. The large windows, skyline views and contemporary ballrooms on the stylish top floor, Tip Top Tap, are a wedding photographer’s dream. Not to mention, the charming architecture perfectly matched Catherine and JonMarco’s effortlessly cool, city vibe.

How They Met
Catherine and JonMarco met on Hinge in 2019. Catherine had just moved back to Chicago at the time so you could say the timing was kismet. Their first date consisted of frisbee in the park with “wine breaks instead of water ones” as Catherine puts it. They ended up spending the whole evening together after stumbling across a 24 hour Mexican spot for some late night burritos. The rest is history after that!
Downtown Chicago Wedding
Catherine and JonMarco have become true Chicagoans. I mean, with new adventures around every corner, what’s not to love? Some of their favorite hobbies include thrifting, hiking, interior design projects and cozying up with a good book (my kinda people!). Though neither of them have family in Chicago, they have each other, and a tightly-knit community of friends which make the city feel like home. Their home tends to be the hub for friends and family gathering or passing through, and they wouldn’t have it any other way!
Their love for each other and the city that brought them together is so genuine. It’s no surprise they chose to get married where it all started. I’m forever grateful I had the chance to witness their love story by documenting their downtown Chicago wedding. What an epic way to celebrate their first chapter and kick off an exciting new one in their favorite city.
