So not only did I get to shoot at one of my dream locations all the way in Utah, but this couple is actually originally from Boston! I was so excited to shoot this Salt Flats engagement session with Jinah & Ajinkya. When they heard I was going on a cross-country road trip, they immediately got in contact with me and asked if we could meet up somewhere and take some cool pictures! Of course I was super open to this idea, and I love when couples aren’t afraid to get a little untraditional with their photos. It makes my job even more fun.
Jinah & Ajinkya are truly so kind and caring, and have an incredible sense of fun and adventure. Here are some snippets of what they love about each other!
Ajinkya: “Jinah is the “People’s Champion” — always looking out for and supporting others. She hates when there is injustice directed to anyone.”
Jinah: “He is actually the most thoughtful person I’ve ever met. Whether it’s a watch I mentioned once that I liked and magically appears for my birthday, or bringing me home desserts, or flowers for no reason at all. He’s so naturally giving and romantic. I never have to ask him to put more into to our relationship. He’s just incredible and I feel lucky.”
How Jinah & Ajinkya met | Salt Flats Engagement Session
When it comes to their backstory, this one is definitely one for the books. They both grew up in the same town and went to the same school, but for some reason never crossed paths. In fact, they even had mutual friends who played basketball together! Still, they didn’t meet until years later when they were visiting their families back home.
In the town they grew up in, it was a city-wide tradition to meet at the restaurant Waxy O’Connor’s on every Thanksgiving. So one year, when Jinah and Ajinkya were home for the holidays, they ended up matching on Tinder! Jinah consulted her friends to see what they thought about the potential romance, and everyone was a huge advocate for Ajinkya. What a good sign, right??
So then while everyone (including J & A) in town was at Waxy O’Connor’s for Thanksgiving, Aijinkya decided to message Jinah on Tinder and ask if she was there. Meanwhile, the whole time he knew exactly where she was!
Thankfully she responded, and they ended up talking and hanging out at the bar until closing time. They both felt such a strong familiarity and sense of connection, which is exactly what led them here today.
As much fun as I had shooting J & A’s Salt Flats engagement session, I know it’s going to be even more of a blast shooting their wedding in Connecticut next year. I’m absolutely counting down the days!
