When Alley and Ty look back on their engagement session in Beacon Hill, their vision was to “to feel the same happiness and love we have now.” I think we accomplished that during our time together.
Alley and Ty were so fun to shoot with. They’re both so friendly, collaborative, and open – which is truly the dream scenario for your photographer during an engagement session! They weren’t afraid to have fun and show their personalities and were even down to try some more “editorial” poses which they absolutely nailed. Keep scrolling – the photos speak for themselves.
Why engagement sessions are so special
I always love capturing engagement sessions because it marks a super exciting chapter in your love story. For Alley and Ty, this shoot really signified and commemorated their decision to move away from the place they grew up to put down roots in a new city, make new friends, and experience a lot of changes in a short period of time. My time with them was a sweet reminder that at the end of the day, home really isn’t a place, it’s a person – and the most important thing is that you’re together. Sometimes (especially when you’re engaged) it’s okay to be selfish in wanting to celebrate that feeling a little extra. Spoiler alert – I’ll always be there to egg you on because this special time is really meant to be all about you two and your love.
The couple behind the lens
Before each engagement session, I send out a questionnaire to my couples to get to know them a bit better before we meet up! Right off the bat, I knew how kind-hearted both Alley and Ty were by the way they described each other to me. They both really look to each other for positivity, encouragement, and support. Alley and Ty help each other grow in big ways and small, while still keeping things light-hearted and silly – my kinda people!
Urban engagement session in Beacon Hill
We simply had the best time shooting Alley and Ty’s engagement session in Beacon Hill – they encapsulate that urban cool couple vibe in a very effortless way. Our session consisted of endless charming buildings, street shots by the Charles Street Meeting House, and blooming cherry blossoms along the Charles River Esplanade. We ended our time together in the most epic way, with some editorial style shots at the T. There’s nothing better than documenting beautiful moments and people in love just as they are, in the city they call home.
