Best Wedding Venues on Martha’s Vineyard

PLANNING TIPS, WEDDINGS

As a Boston-based documentary wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of shooting at some of the best wedding venues on Martha’s Vineyard. I’m constantly inspired by the beautiful landscapes, historic homes, and classic charm found on the island. These wedding venues are simply too good not to share, so if you’re planning a wedding in New England, stick around. I’m rounding up the best wedding venues on Martha’s Vineyard.

Duck Inn – Aquinnah, MA

Relaxed, backyard wedding vibes paired with ocean vistas.

The Duck Inn is a renovated farmhouse nestled on 5.5 acres in the small town of Aquinnah. Originally built 200 years ago by a Native American Whaler, the inn features five bedrooms and stunning ocean views. The property has green lawns and nearby beach access, so it’s a pretty ideal spot for tented wedding receptions. For more photos from a recent wedding reception we documented at the Duck Inn, check out this blog post.

Outermost Inn – Aquinnah, MA

Classic New England charm along the coast.

The original house at the Outermost Inn was built in 1971 on family land. In 1989, the home underwent a full renovation to become what is now a 7 room destination inn and restaurant. The Outermost Inn is located on the quieter western part of the island. If you’re looking for a tranquil spot with beach vistas to host an intimate wedding, this is it.

Vanderhoop Homestead – Aquinnah, MA

Historic character meets natural cliffside beauty.

The Vanderhoop Homestead dates back to the 1850s. Now home to the Aquinnah Cultural Center, the building isn’t available for event use, but the grounds and stone terrace are. The property accommodates weddings and special events for tents up to 100ft x 60ft, another venue ideal for tented receptions. The best part about the Vanderhoop Homestead is that it overlooks the beautiful clay cliffs along the coast of the island. Talk about a one-of-a-kind view on your wedding day!

Allen Farm – Chilmark, MA

The meadow meets the sea — for the couples that want both!

Allen Farm is one of the most historic farms on Martha’s Vineyard. The farm was originally purchased by Jonathan Allen in 1762. The original timber-framed farmhouse was built by his oldest son, Tristram. Even today, it’s clear to see how the family continues to preserve and sustain the 100 acre farm. Because of the special care that was put into perserving the land on the ocean side, the photo opportunities are truly endless. The south shore’s barrier beach and Chilmark Pond neighbor the farm land. This area creates a particularly beautiful meadow by the sea view, which is basically a wedding photographers dream.

Winnetu Oceanside Resort – Edgartown, MA

When you want quaint island charm and sprawling ocean views.

Winnetu Oceanside Resort, family owned since 1968, is the only resort on Edgartown’s South Beach. It has easy access to downtown Edgartown shops and restaurants, so it’s a beautiful and convenient venue. If you’re looking for a one stop shop for hosting your wedding weekend with resort amenities like biking into town, pick-up tennis, and laying by the pool or beach, this is it. Winnetu offers a range of accommodations from hotel rooms, suites and private homes. Also, there’s numerous spaces to host various wedding events from their Ocean View Deck to the Dunes Restaurant. It’s location alone easily makes it one of the best wedding venues in Martha’s Vineyard.

Atria – Edgartown, MA

Restaurant wedding vibes meets 19th century New England charm.

Atria is a classic New England restaurant set in a nineteenth century Captain’s house along the coast of the island. Atria is a fabulous spot for a reception because of it’s various room, lawn and tented patio options paired with a ceremony held nearby. One of my favorite options is the historic Old Whaling Church.

Captain Morse House – Edgartown, MA

1840s island charm meets intimate garden reception.

Captain Morse House is an authentic whaling captain’s home built in 1840 by Captain John Osborne Morse. Since then, the home has been fully renovated while preserving its historic charm to be the largest vacation rental in Martha’s Vineyard. With two separate wings, Captain Morse House has 12 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, 2 kitchens and dining rooms in total. Additionally, it’s large backyard and garden are perfect for intimate weddings and special events.

Farm Neck Golf Club – Oak Bluffs, MA

Woodlands, meadows, and marshes – the golf club that has it all.

Farm Neck Golf Club‘s idyllic setting and sprawling vistas offer more than most golf courses do. The property has everything from woodlands, open meadows, salt marshes, and stunning overlooks of ocean’s edge. The course was designed by three architects to be carved into a beautiful peninsula or “Neck” of farmland on the eastern edge of the Island. The venue offers a wide range of menu options, professional staff and various spaces on the property including their Farm Neck tent.

Lambert’s Cove Inn – West Tisbury, MA

Enchanting garden wedding steps away from a private beach.

Lambert’s Cove Inn is a West Tisbury boutique resort offering guests an upscale bed & breakfast feel. Originally in 1790, the eight-acre property was a working farm (they still have llamas on site!) Just steps away from Lambert’s Cove Beach, the resort takes the New England garden setting to a whole new level.

Surrounded by a natural aisle of seasonal flowers and a trumpet-vine-covered pergola, ceremonies take place in the private English garden. With options for both indoor and outdoor receptions, the planning opportunities are endless. Lambert’s Cove Inn‘s uniquely beautiful location is just one of the many reasons why it’s one of the best wedding venues in Martha’s Vineyard.

Agricultural Hall – West Tisbury, MA

Historic hall meets rustic New England style.

Agricultural Hall is made up of over twenty acres including 2 animal barns, an outdoor riding ring and outbuildings. The property’s open space is spread out between old trees and a large hayfield, making this venue an ideal spot for couple’s looking for rural charm. The Main Hall features a wooden barn that was brought to the island from New Hampshire by volunteers, board by board, in 1994. During weddings, the doors of the barn can open to create an indoor outdoor feel and even more room for dancing.

Rental Properties

For that home-away-from-home feel.

If you’re looking for an intimate backyard wedding vibe, a rental home on Martha’s Vineyard might be just the spot! Our couples have taken us to Edgartown, Chappaquiddick, Chilmark, and beyond. Kane International Realty has a wide range of luxury vacation rentals depending on your wedding size and vision. We’re still dreaming of Rachel and Michael’s colorful backyard wedding, also at a Kane Realty rental property. Catch up on their full wedding blog here for more inspiration!
