Last summer I had the pleasure of capturing some of these sweetest family beach photos on Martha’s Vineyard. These kind of laid-back family photo sessions have my heart. Kate and her family just so happened to be on Martha’s Vineyard the same weekend I was there, so when she reached out, it just felt kismet!

Kate is a nurse, holistic health coach and blogger with a weekly wellness newsletter on substack. While she was on an East Coast roadtrip with her husband and sweet 1 year old, she reached out about last minute family beach photos on Martha’s Vineyard. Whenever I’m traveling for a wedding, I always try to carve out some free time for a session or two! In this case, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. To commemorate their roadtrip, Kate was envisioning a casual family beach session. She loves natural, textured and unposed moments and wanted their photos to feel that way. I immediately knew I would love working with her and her family!

My documentary-style approach to family photos aligns so well with Kate’s. So, it’s no secret that we had the best time taking their family beach photos on Martha’s Vineyard. Between running along the beach and taking turns dipping her son’s toes in the sand and playfully tossing him up in the air, they were truly in their element. I shot their family beach session on film and digital and their photos perfectly captured the essence of their young family.
Whether it’s your wedding, engagement or family session, my approach to capturing candid, authentic moments in an honest way never wavers. It’s a privilege to witness your memories as you’re making them. But, it’s even more of an honor to capture it all on film and digital.
