This bold Brooklyn wedding at the Wythe Hotel will live rent free in my mind forever. Jess and Matt’s celebration was a perfect mix of 90s nostalgia, modern design, and heartfelt details. From interactive guest experiences to a bold all-red wedding design, their day left such a lasting impression.
Bold Brooklyn Wedding Design
As a talented wedding photographer herself, Jess brought a keen eye for detail to every aspect of their bold Brooklyn Wedding at the Wythe. Documenting the wedding of a fellow photographer is always such an honor, and this one was no exception! On top of being such a fun-loving, warm and gregarious couple to work with, Jess and Matt’s wedding was a total dream to photograph.
Jess and Matt knew from the start that they wanted dinner to be the focal point of their day. Their striking, all-red design was just one of the ways they did so. They set the tone with a thoughtfully curated family-style meal that matched their overall wedding vision centered around connection and togetherness.
To make the dining experience even more interactive, each guest was welcomed to their seat with personalized cootie catcher place cards. These custom paper fortune tellers were the perfect nostalgic nod to their shared love of 90s pop culture (a central theme of their wedding day!) They featured fun conversation starter questions selected by Jess and Matt themselves, making their reception even more intentional and fun.
One-of-a-Kind Wedding Details
Jess and Matt’s bold Brooklyn wedding at the Wythe was an explosion of creativity. Inspired by their love for 90s nostalgia — bold design and personal touches made way for endless connection opportunities with guests. It’s always such a treat working alongside Kayla of Madden Made Events, the planner and designer who made it all happen. She totally understood Jess and Matt’s inspired ideas and turned their distinct vision into a modern wedding dream.
The 90s nostalgia was effortlessly weaved throughout their bold Brooklyn wedding at the Wythe with standout details. One of the most notable being Jess and Matt’s custom wedding guides, which were on display as guests entered the venue. As an ode to their love of rom-coms, their tv-guide inspired wedding guides gave guests a playful look into Jess and Matt’s day. The guide included a schedule of events, seating assignments, as well as fun additions like signature cocktails, a custom crossword puzzle, and a roundup of Jess and Matt’s TV and film favorites. A very on-brand overview of their love story if you will!
Wedding at the Wythe on Film
As a fellow documentary style wedding photographers, Jess and I have similar approaches which made working together all the more enjoyable. We both value and look for honest, authentic moments that capture all the raw emotions of a wedding day. Jess also happens to love film just as much as I do so it truly felt like a match made in heaven. It’s no coincidence that their film wedding photos are some of my favorites I’ve taken all year! Photographing their bold Brooklyn wedding at the Wythe was the best way to cap off another incredible year of weddings.
