I am 100% manifesting more lakeside weddings like this Vermont elopement. Being able to be Jess & Leo’s sole guest while they had their mini ceremony at Lake Champlain was unbelievably humbling. I’m all for couples who make their wedding everything that they want it to be. And if that means you want to commit to the love of your life at a lake in Vermont, then so be it!
Because Leo is Canadian, they legally got married at city hall so that they could start the immigration process. Even though they took care of all the legalities, they wanted to save the personal aspects for their vow ceremony. They read heartfelt letters to each other and exchanged rings on the most beautiful day at Lake Champlain.
A little about Jess & Leo
J & L met back in 2016 on the app Coffee Meets Bagel and even though they’re both shy, Jess made the first move. That very same week they met at a brewery in Cambridge, MA and the rest is history! I shot their engagement session in 2020, and am going to photograph their wedding celebration in Boston in spring 2022! Because they are from such different places (Jess from NY and Leo from ON), they really wanted to have their closest friends and family in the same place for their wedding reception. I genuinely could not be more excited to see them for the third time to document their love story.
When asked what their favorite memory is together, this is what Jess said –
“Last summer we visited PEI in Canada for a long weekend. One of our favorite moments from that trip was going a small hike through a wooded area, and then taking a long boardwalk over some swamps and dunes to get to the beach. Leo had been before, but it was my first time. Showing each other our favorite places and sharing nostalgia is a really important part of who we are as a couple.”
