Ceci and Matt had a glorious, colorful Martha’s Vineyard wedding in Aquinnah, and it was honestly the most emotional day I’ve ever documented.
Before Their Aquinnah Martha’s Vineyard Wedding
These two inquired with me eighteen months ago. In their inquiry, they said “when we aren’t reading or watching the Red Sox, we’re hanging out at the Brookline Booksmith or playing darts at the Silhouette.” I remember saying out loud to Max, “are these people our best friends?!” I knew instantly they were our people. Once they booked, I didn’t even wait until their engagement session to reach out to hang out.
Since then, we’ve spent countless hours together — sharing dinners, seeing movies at the Coolidge, watching Sox games, coming in 2nd at trivia night, and much more. They’ve quickly become an integral part of our life in Boston so you can imagine how damn excited we were to capture their wedding on Martha’s Vineyard.
Ceci & Matt’s Story
Ceci was working in a tiny convenience store on their college campus when they first met. Matt came in while working an overnight shift as an EMT, and in a move that surprised even herself, Ceci reached out her hand and introduced herself to him. After he left the store, their mutual friend walked in and agreed to set them up, and the rest is history! It’s one of the best “how they met” stories – you can read more about it on their engagement session blog.
Getting to know Ceci and Matt not only as clients, but as close friends leading up to their Aquinnah Martha’s Vineyard wedding has been an absolute privilege. They’re the kind of people who wear their hearts on their sleeves — the perfect example of a true partnership in everything they do. Their unwavering adoration for each other is genuinely inspiring. It’s just a bonus that they’re also hilarious people and a total joy to hang with.
Aquinnah Martha’s Vineyard Wedding Day
It’s no surprise that Ceci and Matt’s Aquinnah wedding was absolutely wonderful. They put so much thought into every detail and each one felt personal. Ceci’s mom made their vintage-inspired wedding cake, and the ceremony was held in Matt’s parents’ backyard; Ceci wore a handmade veil from the Italian town where her ancestors are from, and Matt started his day with a swim in the ocean with his groomsmen. Everything was unique, personal, and deliberate. From their florals (done by C’s cousin!) to the whimsical bridesmaids dresses and custom matchboxes, it all felt like the perfect representation of their relationship — full of life, love, and color.
During the ceremony, they had two beautiful poem readings, and there wasn’t a single dry eye (including ours!!). The outpouring of love from their friends and family on their wedding day was so joyous and beautiful. Documenting their Aquinnah Martha’s Vineyard wedding day on film, super 8, and digital as truly a gift. You can really feel the pure joy and love through their photos and video.
Grateful doesn’t come close to expressing how I feel about this job and the people it brings into my life. Documenting the love of a couple who we now consider some of our best friends in Boston was a true highlight of my career. Their Aquinnah wedding day was simply unforgettable.
